HELP CHILDREN PRAY

This site, drawn from the Catholic prayer tradition, offers support to those
helping children to pray as they begin their relationship to God.

“Teaching Children to
Pray Is One of
The Greatest Things
We Can Do
for Them.”

From Birth, Children Thirst for God

They want to know God, and we can help them know the God who made them. The gift of prayer, given to all, from the youngest child to the oldest of us, is a gift to be shared. It’s a way to know God.

Teaching children to pray

Teaching children to pray is one of the greatest things we can do for them. “Teach us to pray,” his disciples asked Jesus. They passed on what he taught them; now we’re called to pass that gift to the next generation.

Too much to ask, beyond us? Teaching children to pray is a holy task that blesses the one who teaches as well as the one who is taught. It’s true too that our own prayer is deepened when we help our children to pray.

Catholic prayer tradition

This site, based on the Catholic prayer tradition, offers support for those helping children to pray and thus to begin their relationship with God. It provides short explanations for the ordinary prayers we say and introduces children to the seasons of the year we celebrate. The explanations here are not the only you will have. Don’t worry. The Holy Spirit also inspires those who teach others to pray and those who learn to pray.
